Professional experience

John Serrantino, on the road since 1997

Seven stops, one highway. Customer service, sales leadership, six years at HubSpot, two companies founded, and the work I do now at Kesey.

1997 to 2002

AccessCRM

Data entry and database management, ages 13 to 18

  • Summers through high school and college.
  • Data entry, database management and process structuring.

What it taught me: Discipline.

2002 to 2006

York College of Pennsylvania

BA, Philosophy. Four years of saying exactly what I meant

  • Trained to define terms and defend them, which turns out to be most of CRM architecture.

What it taught me: Most broken systems are one word meaning four things.

2006 to 2010

ReminderMedia

Employee 4. Customer Service Rep to Director of Customer Service

  • Ran a team of 15: hiring, performance reviews, training and onboarding.
  • Helped architect the company's homegrown CRM, which more than 150 people ran on.
  • The company was named the 2nd fastest growing private business in Philadelphia in 2008 by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

What it taught me: The power of sound process.

2010 to 2012

Front Center Media

Employee 1 of a private equity backed venture

  • Every aspect of the business, from employee one. Hired and built the team to 8.
  • Funding was pulled at eighteen months and the venture closed.

What it taught me: Failure is how you grow, and it is better to have your first one early.

2012 to 2018

PipelineCRM

Account Executive, Senior AE, then Sales Director

  • Ran a sales team of 8 as Sales Director.
  • Created the onboarding services program, then sold it and delivered it.
  • Closed the largest deal in company history: $1.5M and 750 users, won on wireframes I built with no deal team.

What it taught me: Innovation is listening to the customer, then bootstrapping the answer.

2018 to 2024

HubSpot

Channel Account Manager, then Enterprise Account Executive

  • Three years managing agency partners, three years as an Enterprise AE.
  • President's Club in 2019 and 2020 at more than 125% of quota.

What it taught me: How it works at scale, and what a finished product looks like.

2020 to 2023

EzHireConcurrent

Co-founder. Founded and exited

  • Recruitment as a service, built with a business partner and run alongside the HubSpot years.
  • Employed five plus people and did more than $300K in revenue in 2020 and again in 2021. Exited in 2023.

What it taught me: What it costs to make payroll.

2024 to now

KeseyNow

Founder. Title on the business card: Janitor

  • A revenue systems practice for a limited client roster. The person you meet is the person doing the work.
  • Builds and runs the wiring between a company's CRM, its billing, its mailbox and the system its work runs in.
  • Ships software too: Pre-Trip, a compliance scanner for regulated health marketing.

What it taught me: Visibility first. Build the measurement layer, then build, measure and test against it.
